Do I need a permit for a pergola in South Florida?
Yes — in virtually every city across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, permanent pergolas and patio covers require a building permit, and often zoning and HOA approval too. We handle engineered, permit-ready plans so your structure is legal and inspection-ready.
Aluminum or wood pergola — which is better here?
For South Florida, aluminum wins almost every time. Wood looks great on day one but battles rot, termites, warping and constant refinishing in our heat and humidity. Powder-coated aluminum keeps the look with essentially none of the maintenance — and it's stronger in wind.
Can a pergola survive a hurricane?
A properly engineered and permitted aluminum pergola is designed for our High-Velocity Hurricane Zone wind loads — the key is correct footings, anchoring and connections, not a big-box kit. Louvered roofs can also be opened to let wind pass through. We build to code and document it.
How much does an aluminum pergola cost?
It varies widely with size, style (open-slat vs. louvered vs. solid cover) and add-ons like lighting and fans. Louvered adjustable roofs are the premium option. The best way to get a real number is a free on-site measure — we'll design to your budget.
Can you add a pergola to an existing patio or pool deck?
Absolutely. We build attached and freestanding structures over existing slabs, pool decks and outdoor kitchens. During the on-site visit we'll confirm the slab and footings needed to do it right.
